Porto Novo, Feb 09 (Inforpress) – The tourist office of Porto Novo today praised the work done in recent years by this service “in promoting tourism in Santo Antão and projecting the image of this island both within and outside” Cape Verde.
This is work that has been done in conjunction with the interpretation center of the Porto Novo territory, which, according to a note from the tourist office, “has been authentic visiting rooms for national and foreign tourists.”
In the note accessed by Inforpress, the tourist office encourages visitors to “explore” the island of Santo Antão “through unforgettable hikes,” provided by “hundreds of walking trails.”
“Here, every step on one of our walking trails is a new opportunity to discover breathtaking landscapes, deep valleys, surprising contrasts, and a people full of stories to tell,” noted the same source.
Foreign magazines and blogs have been highlighting the tourist potential of the island of Santo Antão, which offers hiking trails as the main tourist product.
In this peak tourism season, Santo Antão receives almost daily groups of tourists, mainly for trekking.
However, tourist guides have been warning about the poor condition of many trails that are jeopardizing the safety of visitors.
